Migrate to Shopify from WooCommerce or WordPress

A move to Shopify is worth it when the current site is the thing holding sales back. WooCommerce has grown a thicket of plugins. WordPress was built as a brochure and the shop was bolted on. Checkout feels dated. The catalogue is fine. The machinery around it is not.

We migrate stores for businesses in the South Hams, wider Devon and across the UK. You deal with the person doing the move. If Shopify is the wrong destination, we will say so and stay on WooCommerce instead.

When a migration is the right job

  • The shop works, but updates, plugins and hosting have become a second job.
  • You want Shopify's checkout, payments and apps, and a catalogue that is mostly straightforward products.
  • A WordPress site needs to become a real shop, and there is no reason to keep the old admin.
  • You are tired of emergency fixes and want a hosted platform with a cleaner week.

When we would not migrate

Stay and repair if the business depends on WooCommerce behaviour Shopify will not match cleanly: complex kits and bundles, customer-specific trade prices, or a content operation that lives in WordPress and should stay there. That work is a WooCommerce Rebuild / Rescue (£2,000 to £4,500), not a forced move.

A WordPress brochure with no real catalogue, where you are starting to sell, is often a Shopify Launch (£2,500 to £5,000) rather than a full migration. There is less to carry across.

What actually moves

The WooCommerce to Shopify Migration package is £3,000 to £6,000, about 60-120 hours at £50 per hour. It covers:

  • Catalogue and customers. Products, variants, collections and customer records, mapped so the new shop is sellable on day one. Not every plugin has a Shopify twin. We list those gaps before import, not after go-live.
  • Content that still matters. The pages people use: delivery, about, sizing, key landing pages. Old blog posts come across when they still earn their place.
  • URL redirects and SEO continuity. Old addresses point at the new ones. Search and existing links should land on a product, not a dead page. This is the part that protects the traffic you already have.
  • Theme, payments and launch. A storefront that fits the brand, payments and shipping checked, then a planned go-live rather than a weekend surprise.

Order history is the piece that often stays behind. We keep the old shop available to you for records and accounting, and we agree that before anyone switches the domain. Customers shop on the new site. Your books still reconcile.

How a move runs

  1. Discovery. Catalogue size, awkward products, apps you rely on, and what must not break. Integrations with stock or accounts are scoped separately if they are part of the business.
  2. Build the Shopify store in parallel. The current shop keeps selling.
  3. Import and redirects on a staging address you can click through.
  4. Checkout, shipping and a sample of real orders tested before the domain moves.
  5. Go-live and training so the people who add products can do it without us in the room. Monthly hours exist if you want a senior contact afterwards.

Migration questions

Will we lose our Google rankings if we move to Shopify?

Not if the move is planned. Important old addresses are redirected to the new pages, and the content people already find is rewritten onto Shopify rather than abandoned. Rankings can wobble for a short time. A careful redirect map is how we keep that small.

Can you migrate from WordPress as well as WooCommerce?

Yes. A WordPress site that is becoming a shop is often a Shopify Launch if there is little catalogue to move. A WooCommerce catalogue, with products and customers to bring across, is the migration package at £3,000 to £6,000.

How long does a WooCommerce to Shopify migration take?

Most fall in the 60-120 hour guide, which is several weeks once content, catalogue checks and your own approvals are included. The current shop stays up until go-live.

What if Shopify cannot do what a plugin does today?

We name that before the project starts. Some gaps are solved in the theme or with one app. Some mean you should stay on WooCommerce. We would rather rescue the shop you have than sell a migration that cannot take an order properly.
